SM MAKES THE CUT FOR DENIM LOVERS

With each fashion season bringing a barrage of fancy, modern pieces, it is hard to imagine how a 19th century garment designed as laborers’ work wear in America’s Western States, served as a staple of style all throughout the world.

From the place of normal clothing, denim jeans have risen to be a fashion icon and have been widely embraced by everyone from politicians, celebrities to plain juan. The evolution of cuts from wide-leg to skinny and washes from acid to deep indigo have been a styling rubric that challenges us to rethink the way we dress and present ourselves. Because of the resurgence and continuous metamorphosis of denim jeans, the all American classic is no longer confined as a pair of work trousers but as a must-have basics and much-coveted collection in every closet.

EVERYTHING FOR JEANS LOVERS fashion show is the biggest campaign of SM City Marilao for all denim lovers. It is a celebration of passion for jeans, giving everyone’s hardest-working-pair a facelift.

Choosing to evoke as gods and goddesses, the show opened with a theme inspired from Game of Thrones. This highlights the beauty and raw sensuality of unembellished denim jeans from Bench, Mossimo, Mags, Sabella, Exquisite, The Big Shop, Markus, V+, Code Blue, Tank, Baleno New and SM Store’s in-house denim line; Jag thug, Crissa, Dickies, Petrol, RRJ, Next, Fubu and Tribal. Models looked fierce and provocative with their jeans on, paired solely to bare skin, flawless hair and natural make-up.

Taking a cue from fashion dissection of urban comfort and alluring casualness, punk chic trend and street style were all over the runway as the first collection sent the audience to play vibe. The same jeans worn for play were translated as structured utilitarian piece for work. Modern, muted and tailored tops were given sophisticated twist to be work-appropriate.

More drama ensued as feathers, bustier, lace tops and tuxedo jackets donned the incarnation of ‘60s mod fashion, 70’s hippie-glamor, 80’s retro and 90’s modern-minimalism. Though the pleasures of haute couture are confined to magazines and runway, styling was tapped into wearable everyday look while finishing touches were added by homegrown brand SM accessories

The fashion show could not have been staged better without the performance of Actor, Model and R&B Prince Jay-R. With the spawning contemporary interpretations of jeans, SM City Marilao reinvents itself as the new hub for trendsetters.
