TRADITIONAL WEAVING IN THE PHILIPPINES

Abaca and piña cloth weaver of Kalibo, Aklan

This is the traditional weaving of abaca and piña cloth in the Philippines. The process is a slow and tedious one because everything is done by hands . From harvesting crops from which fiber for weaving will be stripped, to knotting and tying each fiber, it can take months before a final fabric or garment is produced. The final fabric is indeed a labor of love.
